So the last time I was in Bangalore, folks were shopping and by the time they were done, we realized that it was way past lunch time. With most places being shut, we stumbled onto California Pizza Kitchen on the 100 feet road of Indra Nagar and ventured in.
A nice upmarket place with neatly done interior, we settled ourselves in a corner and looked at the rather elaborate menu. Being hungry as we were, we quickly asked for thin crust BBQ chicken pizza, a mezze platter and corn cakes, as I really wanted to see if the corn cakes were any good, they used to be something I really liked in the US.
But we were treated to flavors that was totally new to all our tongues. The pizza was very very different, the thin crust was very thin and chewy and the cheese was really different and maybe if it was not called pizza, I might have really liked it, but I cannot say that I did not. Everyone shared the same opinion and it was even worse for the mezze platter. The humus was predictable, but the pita bread was again, very different. A type of chicken served on the platter was super duper tasty, but again, flavors that I have never had before, while the lamb puff pastry was the only one on the platter that was tongue known. The corn cakes were pretty average and not what I had expected it to be.
But the flavors of this place left me confused. Maybe I need to go back and try a few more dishes before I give it a verdict, maybe the two dishes we ordered were the ones that had strange flavors, but who knows. If any of you have an opinion, I would love to hear about it.
But from the next post onwards, I am going to be reporting the food that I have managed to eat for the fasting period of Ramadhan, so look out for Haleem and biriyani and the likes for the month long Iftar Special.
